Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni recently highlighted the enduring public support for her administration, celebrating a significant milestone of 1,413 days in power. This accomplishment marks her government as the longest-serving in the history of the Italian Republic. During a rally held by her Brothers of Italy (FdI) party in Bari, Meloni emphasized that the achievement was not merely about longevity in office but about consistently retaining public backing while advancing her political objectives.

Meloni underscored political stability as a pivotal reform achieved by her administration, asserting that it has bolstered Italy’s capacity to engage in international negotiations and defend the nation’s interests. Despite acknowledging the challenges of governance, she noted that there were times when it felt like “swimming in glue,” but she remained resolute and never considered resigning from her role.

Throughout her tenure, Meloni’s government has navigated numerous challenges, including conflicts in the Middle East, tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, rising fuel prices, natural disasters, terrorism, and issues related to youth crime. These obstacles, she pointed out, were met with efforts to maintain financial discipline.

Meloni criticized previous administrations for compromising Italy’s public finances, particularly through the implementation of measures like the Superbonus. She urged her government to continue striving for progress and cautioned political opponents that attempts to obstruct her administration’s initiatives would not prevail.
