Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has called on European industries to embrace artificial intelligence (AI) to maintain a competitive edge in the global market. Speaking at a conference hosted by Nvidia in Berlin, Huang highlighted the potential of AI to transform sectors such as automotive manufacturing, healthcare, banking, and industrial production.
Huang stressed the importance of integrating AI into operations, product development, and manufacturing processes. He pointed out its potential applications in areas like autonomous driving, robotics, drug discovery, and financial services, urging companies to act swiftly to leverage these opportunities.
Europe, with its well-established industrial sector, stands to gain significantly from AI adoption. Companies like Germany’s Siemens and France’s Schneider Electric, with their extensive manufacturing operations and access to industrial data, have the potential to develop advanced AI systems that could revolutionize factories and production facilities.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has also emphasized the need for small and medium-sized industrial businesses to utilize their existing data more effectively to foster AI development and innovation. However, data security concerns remain a significant barrier. A September survey of 603 German companies revealed that 45% of respondents were worried about exposing sensitive commercial information by using third-party AI tools.
Addressing these concerns, Huang introduced Nvidia OpenShell, a security-focused environment designed to help businesses keep AI agents within user-defined boundaries. As European industries explore AI-driven solutions, finding a balance between innovation and data protection will be crucial.
