Finnish President Alexander Stubb has embarked on a two-day state visit to Luxembourg focused on enhancing bilateral relations and collaboration on European matters. This visit, which began on Tuesday, underscores the importance of the partnership between Finland and Luxembourg, particularly within European institutions.
Upon arrival, President Stubb and his wife were greeted with military honors at the Grand Ducal Palace. The ceremonial welcome was followed by a meeting with Luxembourg’s Grand Ducal couple, where the Finnish presidential couple also laid a wreath at the eternal flame, paying tribute to those who died in service.
During his visit, President Stubb is scheduled to engage in discussions with several key Luxembourgish leaders, including President of the Chamber of Deputies Claude Wiseler, Prime Minister Luc Frieden, and Deputy Prime Minister Xavier Bettel. These discussions are anticipated to revolve around strengthening bilateral ties and addressing pressing European issues.
The itinerary for the visit highlights the collaboration between the two countries through engagements with the European Investment Bank and the European Court of Justice. These visits aim to emphasize the cooperative efforts within European institutions.
On Wednesday, the Finnish President will continue his visit by exploring the University of Luxembourg’s Belval campus and the SES headquarters in Betzdorf, showcasing the academic and economic collaboration between Finland and Luxembourg. This visit underscores the shared commitment to fostering educational and economic partnerships.
