Orsini Urges Milei: Innovate Energy Solutions Amid Record Cost Surge

by admin477351

Italy is actively seeking to bolster its energy supply as domestic energy costs have surged to their highest point in two years, according to Emanuele Orsini, President of Confindustria. During a recent meeting with Argentine President Javier Milei in Buenos Aires, Orsini emphasized the pressing need for Italy to secure additional energy resources to maintain the competitiveness of its industries.

Orsini described his discussions with President Milei as constructive, noting the shared challenges and opportunities between Italy and Argentina. He pointed out that the escalating energy costs are posing significant hurdles for Italian businesses, making energy acquisition a top priority. This highlights the potential for enhanced energy trade between the two nations.

A key focus of their conversation was Argentina’s Vaca Muerta shale formation. This region is recognized for its substantial oil and gas production capacity, which could serve as a crucial source of energy exports. The exploration of this resource could pave the way for more robust energy collaboration between Argentina and Italy.

Beyond energy, the talks also delved into broader trade possibilities and supply chain synergies, aimed at strengthening economic connections. Orsini highlighted that the Argentine market currently accounts for approximately $1.2 billion in business for Italian firms. However, he expressed optimism that this figure could potentially expand to around $7 billion in the coming years, signaling a significant opportunity for growth.
